Multi-element Montage

How can the principle of montage be applied to painting? That is to transform its temporality into flatness. The basic vehicle of montage in the sense of painting - the sign (symbol).

‘C.S. Peirce: On Sign’: Peirce is very clear about why he pursues form, which is not an ornament to the content, not a container for the content, and not, as Hegel suggests, ‘a certain kind of content determines the form that suits it’.

Each work in this series consists of a large number of symbols, which are abstracted as much as possible, and their distribution on a flat surface constitutes the narrative structure of the picture. The montage is formed when two or more symbols in the work collide or connect in the viewer's mind, springing a specific concept or event. The combination of several seemingly unrelated elements may produce other meanings, which are in turn influenced by the viewer's personal experiences and value judgements.
